KASPARAS EN TUNISIE
Who I am?
My name is Kasparas. I’m 19years old. My home country is Lithuania. This year I finished secondary school in my home town Kursenai. Last few years actively worked in youth work field of my hometown. In the last year of school I had to think how I will manage my future life… The social environment didn’t help me to decide, so I decided to “damage” my life by myself.
Where I am?
In the beginning of September of 2009 I came to Tunisia and I will stay here for 9 months. I am EVS (European voluntary service) volunteer in AJMEC association. During my voluntary service I work with young people, contribute to local community development. Also, I try to overcome my personal challenges and understand the cultural differences between Europe and Mediterranean countries. Adding to this I am learning Arabic language.

Some moments from my activities and life here
Before the end of my voluntary service in AJMEC
Already 8 months passed then I’m in Tunisia. Now I can say that many things seem differently then it was in the beginning of my service. I do really feel that I adapted to the life here and I like it. I’m glad that there are many people around me with whom I can spend my time and plan my activities. During last months I did quit a lot of things:
- I looked and kept in touch with future EVS volunteers in AJMEC;
- Prepared international youth exchange project (unfortunately it was not supported);
- I painted a picture on the wall in the youth centre court;
- I developed several AJMEC presentations
- I made some workshops for children and young people with a mobile youth centre of Sousse
- Created intercultural calendar
- And etc.
However, only around one month left till I will leave. I miss my family and friends, but it will not be easy to leave Tunisia at all. I hope to come back here some day!
